The Blue Light Poem

THE BLUE LIGHT

By

William E. Nelson

This story is going to be in a rhyming and poetic form and way, so you must try in your mind to visualize what I am about to say....

You are going to take a little trip now, so close your eyes, and vicariously to your mind you will realize....

A little walk along the beach, by the roaring sea, when your extra sense tells you: “something is looking at me!”

Soon these thoughts start wandering through my now mind of mass confusion, as my eyes are focused on something that appeared to be, an optical illusion.....

This is what it was, right here on this beach: this blue light of remote captivity just beyond my reach.

I reached out to touch it and what did I feel? a numbing sensation from my head to my heel.

I was soon getting drowsy and my body felt weak, and before I knew it, I was falling asleep.

Asleep in this darkness, it was a deathly fright, because there was no one there to help, and there was no one in sight.

Sometime later I had awakened, and “where was I?” I was in this tube-like contraption shooting through the sky.

As I left the Earth's darkness high out in space, I knew there was something that I would soon have to face.

I then realized that I had better calm down, when suddenly I heard this soft humming sound.

Hmmmmmm Hmmmmming.

I turned my head slowly, and what did I see....?!? this un-godly looking creature staring at me.

My hair stood on edge from this sudden fright, and this is what that creature looked like:

It was more than eight feet tall and more then four hundred pounds , AGAIN I hear that soft Hmmmmm, Hmmmmming sound.

It had four foot shoulders and that’s not all, it had one huge eye the size of a cannon ball.

It had a funnel shaped head with a hole on each side, huge green muscular legs with a horn on each thigh.

A yellowish puss substance gradually seeping through its teeth, and my innocent little heart started increasing its beat.

It had long hairy arms that hung down low, and it was beginning to move, closing in on me real slow........

It got so very near that I could smell its hot stinky breath, I was now having visions of a slow and torturous death.

Its hands had tentacle twitching fingers with a sweaty scale like appearance, I could tell it was soon going to leap, and with plenty of clearance.

Man this creature was a gruesome-looking monster! It had claw feet, like that of a gigantic lobster.

Then its’ moist scaly hands started petting my head, I almost passed out, I almost dropped dead.

When I then heard its’ thoughts, in both my left and right ear: "BE BRAVE MY LITTLE EARTH CREATURE THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR ". “Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm”

Yet fear and contention were very near to my heart, for I was afraid if I moved even slightly, it would literally rip me apart.

Then the humming sound, “Hmmmmmmm,” started coming in loud and fine, it was now transmitting its thoughts into my confused state of mind...

I paused for a moment to think for a while, and before I knew it we were traveling in style....

Now our destination to me was unknown, because all I could think of was getting back home.

It transmitted again, “Hmmmmmmmmmmm! YOU’RE GOING TO MARS, WHERE LIFE HAS NO ENDING HIGH UP IN THE STARS."

I had come to my senses and realized the fact that there was no getting out and there was no turning back.

Then there in my vision was this strange little world, the creature drooled and stared at me, my stomach curled.

It pressed this button and with super sub floric-like speed, this tube like contraption had now come to retrieve.

I was now well aware that this tube had landed, I was also aware that it would soon be abandoned.

It reached over my head, then turned a latch, and there before my eyes, an “EXIT” hatch.

Down this remote controlled elevator, with highly incredible thrust; my heart was throbbing tensely, and my mind was in distrust.

Because it was so dark inside it just didn't seem right! when soon what did appear, but that same blue light.

“Here I go to again” I said to myself, to that sleep in the darkness, and again with no help.

And by the time this elevator had reached the tubes’ bottom floor, I couldn't hear, I couldn’t see, I could not sense anymore.

When I had awakened this time, I was face down on that same beach, where it first came and took me within its reach.

I then rose to my feet and turned around and again I heard the humming sound. “Hummmmmmm”

As I wiped the sand out of my eyes and face, I seen this tube-like contraption shooting high out through space.

Am I in a trance or another dream of some kind? So I looked up again and it was following behind....

This is what it was to prove I wasn't lit: it was that same blue light following that tube space ship.

I then ran for my life, through dry and wet sand, so tired and so weak, that I could no longer stand.

I fell from my feet screaming, “SOMEBODY HELP!" and that's when I saw them dragging seaweed and kelp.

There were 80 0f them, NO, there were 90 of them!! and they were all squealing like little rats.
They had protruding pink eyes with little flapping wings on their backs.

Then all of a sudden they began wrapping me in strands of slimy kelp and seaweed it seemed. “HELP ME! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME,” I screamed.

Then all of a sudden I was being lifted up into the air, by the loose strands of the seaweed and by strands of my hair.

“HELP ME, OH PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE, LITTLE CREATURES” I said, and the only reply was their screeching, and away we fled.

It was cold, dark and damp on this summer night. Through the darkness they carried me clutching me tight.

Again I could hear that humming sound,” Hmmmmmmmm,” was it coming from the cliffs where I was bound?

They hovered me above the pounding rocks and crashing waves below, through a crack in the cliff face, and then into what looked like a cave, or a hole.

Through crevasses and chambers, and wave eaten hall’s, and through tunnels of erosion and through moss coated walls.

Drag me they did over sharp pitted stone, into an echoing rock chamber, to be left here all alone.

There little wing’s ceased flapping as the gently set me down, now all I could hear was a soft humming sound... “Hmmmmmmmmmm…”

Terrified, and shivering, lying here quiet and still, when suddenly ran through me, was this peculiar chill?

“OH YES”, the seaweed and the kelp were now slowly being unraveled from me, “SOMEONE HAD AT LAST COME TO SET ME FREE”....

But I soon then discovered that I was wrong, when around my neck were these bony thongs.

While the things thong’s held my head pinned to the ground , all I could still hear was that soft humming sound “Hmmmmmmmmmm”

Focusing to the dark now, I could see very clear, that it had a suction-cup nose between sunken eyes, and fish gill ears.

Then thrusting through this rock wall in this chamber of fright, was that same one eyed monster and it was a sure-winning fight...

As the monster watched it's competitor's nerves twitch and slowly die, I got a real good look up at that one huge bulging eye.

This is my chance to make my escape, I had to think fast or it would be too late.

So I reached down and picked up this quartz-like rock, and heaved it into the eye with all I had got.

The monster screeched with a volume so piercing in pain, I had to get the hell out now, because this cat was going insane.

I then ran for my life through slopes through pits, soon out to the main entrance to the edge of the cliffs.

I plunged into the ocean of this rocky cliff shore ...“swan dive”, swimming and swimming until I couldn’t bare anymore...

I miraculously made it back to that same place on the beach sand, where the one-eyed monster first took me into its command.

Yes, tore out of my mind in the black of this night, loaded on a little roach that sure put me right.
